Recycle Your Christmas TREE "The Gift that Keeps on GIVING"

  • MAKE MULCH--cut off the boughs & make a protective blanket for your plants.  Plants that might come up early and be nipped by a late spring frost, such as early emerging perennials.

  • GIVE to the BIRDS--Provide shelter for wild birds.  Hang bird treats from the tree--Put peanut butter on cones--Peanut butter is a very nutritious treat high in calories and fat content.

  • GIVE to the FISH--Sink the tree in deep water--old trees become habitats for fish & aquatic insects.  A local restaurant at Lake Wallenpaupack, PA collects your used tree every year.

  • Compost or Chip it--Call your municipal administrative office to find if they pick up trees after the holidays.  Many municipal sites offer free compost and/or wood chips for mulch for the garden in the spring.
Many gardeners have healthier landscapes & they have kept the perfectly good  organic matter out of the landfill.
